Phillip and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary with another trip to Rocky Mountain National Park and a night's stay in Estes Park. We decided to take Hwy 40 north from Interstate 70 which results in entering the park from the west. It was a cloudy, rainy, and cool day. By the time we got to the park, Trail Ridge Road was closed because of the amount of snow falling so we weren't able to make it to Estes through the park (Hwy 34). So, in keeping with our "never backtrack" rule, we headed to Estes Park by way of the "north" route which took about 3 1/2 hours. Though it wasn't exactly our plan, the ride was spectacular. I'll be posting many of the shots I took along the way.
